Imran Khan Calls for Discipline and Unity within PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman, Imran Khan, has urged party leaders to adhere to discipline and set aside petty differences, emphasizing that no individual is greater than the party.

Meeting at Adiala Jail

Imran Khan shared this advice during a meeting with party leaders at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on Thursday. The meeting was convened to discuss party matters, future strategies, and legal issues.

Key Points from the Meeting:

  • Discipline and Unity: Imran stressed the importance of discipline and unity within the party ranks.
  • Hunger Strike Proposal: He endorsed a proposal for PTI workers to observe a hunger strike across the country after Muharram to protest against the ‘denial of constitutional rights.’
  • Reorganization Plan: Imran directed the leaders to develop a comprehensive reorganization plan to address emerging challenges, highlighting the need for public awareness and action against injustice.

Concerns and Directives

Imran expressed concerns over the new military operation, stating it would be ineffective if Pakistan maintained poor relations with Afghanistan. He warned that such tensions could allow the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to find refuge in the neighboring country.

He also reflected on the significance of the Karbala tragedy, urging Pakistanis to rise against injustice and exploitation by the ruling elite.

New Political Party:

  • Awaam Pakistan: Imran welcomed the launch of ‘Awaam Pakistan,’ seeing it as a positive addition to the political landscape compared to the hereditary political system.

Meeting Attendees

The PTI leaders who met Imran included:

  • Omar Ayub: PTI Secretary General and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly
  • Syed Shibli Faraz: Leader of Opposition in the Senate
  • Raoof Hasan: Information Secretary
  • Shaharyar Afridi
  • Junaid Akbar

PTI’s Stance on Political Developments

A PTI spokesperson highlighted the criticism from PMLN senior leader Javed Latif, who dissociated from the Shehbaz government, calling it a ‘mega polls robbery.’ The spokesperson stressed that as long as the Sharif family remained in politics, the Constitution would continue to be undermined, and the people’s right to rule would be suppressed. The spokesperson called on the nation to prepare for a decisive moment to reclaim their stolen mandate and hold the ruling party accountable.

Disciplinary Actions

In a related development, Imran Khan authorized the suspension of Sher Afzal Marwat’s party membership. Marwat was issued a show-cause notice over his controversial statements, with Imran directing the party leadership to take action against those violating party policy.
