KARACHI: As part of the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Pakistan and the 78th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over fascism, the foundation stone of the Pakistan-Russia Friendship Garden was laid at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) here Wednesday, says a Press release.
Consul General of Russian in Karachi Andrei Federov and Professor of Chemistry FUUAST, Dr. Muhammad Ali Versiani performed the inauguration.
Consul General Andrey Fedorov while speaking highlighted the importance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia and the 78th Victory Day of Russia.
Director of Russian Cultural Center Ruslan M. Prokhorov announced the establishment of Pakistan-Russia Friendship Garden to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Acting Registrar Prof. Dr. Zarina Ali thanked the guests and greeted Russian CG Andrey Federov on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia.
Professor Dr. Zarina Ali, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali Versiani, ORIC Deputy Director Dr. Faisal Javed, Dr. Sadia Khalil, Sikandar Ali Sherwani and other guests and students together planted around 30 trees which is the first step for teaching and non-teaching staff and students.
The program is being implemented under an agreement between Federal Urdu University and Russian Center for Science and Culture in Pakistan.
University staff and students actively participated in the event and showed high level of hospitality.
