KEC pays tributes and extends condolence to Chinese envoys in the wake of tragic attack

KARACHI: In response to the devastating loss of five Chinese nationals and a Pakistani driver in a recent suicide attack near Besham City, the Karachi Editors Club (KEC) convened a solemn condolence meeting at the offices of The Financial Daily, Friday.
The attack, targeting a convoy en-route Dasu hydroelectric dam construction site, has sent shockwaves throughout Pakistan and China alike.
During the meeting, KEC members extended their deepest condolences to the families of the victims and expressed solidarity with the Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, and the Consul General of China in Karachi, Yundong Yang. The deceased, comprising five esteemed Chinese engineers dedicated to Pakistan’s development under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), were remembered with reverence.
Amidst prayers for the departed souls, attendees emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures to ensure the safety of all Chinese citizens working in Pakistan. Notably, the proposal for the establishment of a dedicated CPEC Force garnered attention, aiming to bolster security and facilitate the smooth progress of ongoing projects.
The condolence meeting, graced by prominent figures including Mubasher Mir, Mukhtar Aqil, Manzar Naqvi, Agha Masood Hussain, Masood Zaidi, Mukhtar Butt, Javed Malik, Naeemuddin, Dr. Shahida Wazarart, Fizza Shakil, Iqbal Jamil, Brigadier Tariq Khalil, Khursheed Hyder and Dr Muhammad Ali Ehsan, served as a poignant moment of solidarity and support during this challenging period. As both nations navigate this tragedy, unity and cooperation remain paramount in combating such senseless acts of violence.
