KARACHI: On the occasion of World Water Day, the Chief Engineer of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, Syed Salahuddin Ahmed said that the water corporation is observing the global day with great enthusiasm under the theme of ‘Water and Peace’, says a Press release.
The purpose of the theme, he said, is to raise awareness about the importance of fresh water and to shed light on the global water crisis. He expressed the corporation’s commitment to upgrading existing treatment plants with modern technologies and efforts to expand distribution networks, introduce smart metering, and invest in sewage infrastructure.
He further emphasized that the water corporation is actively engaged in providing uninterrupted water supply to Karachi to promote peace and prosperity in the city. On the occasion of World Water Day, he said the water corporation reaffirms its determination to ensure safe water delivery to every institution, individual, and street in the city, improve recycling and sewage systems, and sustainably provide water to current and future generations.
It is worth noting that since 1993, the World Water Day has been observed annually by the United Nations to focus attention on the importance of fresh drinking water.
