Munshi Raziuddin remembered

KARACHI: A musical program Mehfil-e-Sama organized in Karachi by Razi Mousiqar to remember one of the great Qawwal of sub-continent late Munshi Raziuddin, says a Press release.
On this occasion his sons Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad qawwal and party enthralled the audience and paid tribute to Munshi Raziuddin Sahib, grandson of Ustad Taan Rus Khan Sahib (founder of the Delhi Gharana). Senator Taj Haider, famous artist Sheema Kirmani and other distinguished guests were also present.
Devotees of Munshi Sahib’s still remember him as icon of great classical musician and qawwal who passed away in July 2003. After his death no qawwal of his stature could replace him in qawwali. He was also awarded the Pride of Performance Award in 1990 for his best service to qawwali and research in music.
Munshi Sahib sang in many languages including Urdu, Farsi, Poorabi, Arabi and Punjabi languages and had great command over these languages. He was also a great scholar, Sufi and a practicing Hakeem.
