Pak-Türkiye partnership enters new phase with focus on trade & industry

KARACHI: Pakistan and Türkiye have once again demonstrated their shared resolve to transform their deep brotherly ties into a robust economic partnership. In Istanbul, on the sidelines of the 41st Session of COMCEC, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan met with Türkiye’s Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat to review progress and identify new avenues for cooperation.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral trade, investment, and industrial collaboration. Minister Bolat expressed his government’s desire to enhance economic engagement with Pakistan and welcomed Islamabad’s ongoing reforms to promote efficiency, transparency, and investor confidence under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership. He assured that Türkiye would positively consider Pakistan’s proposals during upcoming trade negotiations.
Minister Jam Kamal highlighted Pakistan’s potential as an emerging destination for Turkish investment in multiple sectors including textiles, construction, agriculture, and energy. He emphasized that Pakistan’s strategic location and reform-driven policy environment provide a solid basis for mutual growth. Both leaders also agreed to deepen collaboration in the rapidly expanding halal industry – a sector estimated at over $2 trillion globally – recognizing the need for joint branding, certification, and market access initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Bolat extended an invitation to Minister Jam Kamal to attend the upcoming Halal Expo in Istanbul on November 25, underscoring Türkiye’s commitment to shared growth in this strategic sector.
The meeting also signaled a broader vision for regional connectivity linking South Asia with Europe and Central Asia. Türkiye’s Middle Corridor initiative and Pakistan’s CPEC can complement each other to build a seamless trade network across the continent. Closer Pakistan-Türkiye economic integration would thus extend beyond bilateral gains to benefit the entire region.
As both nations push toward industrial modernization, the meeting in Istanbul reaffirmed that Pakistan and Türkiye are ready to translate their historic friendship into tangible economic outcomes. If supported by consistent policy and mutual commitment, this partnership could usher in a new era of growth, innovation, and shared prosperity for both brotherly countries.
