KARACHI: The Second Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup Flood Lights Football Tournament started at Naya Nazimabad Football Ground in the flood lights, here Sunday. The opening ceremony began with the national anthem.
After which Tournament Director Syed Nasir Ismail introduced the teams of Pakistan Army and Banaras United. Brigadier Altaf Ahmed said that Rangers are also working for the promotion of sports in the city of Quaid along with peace. Karachi has recently successfully hosted the International Open Squash Championship. We will try to hold big events in the future as well.
Tournament Director Syed Mohammad Talha said that night football is becoming popular along with night cricket during Ramazan. They are promoting Naya Nazimabad as a sports city by providing maximum sports facilities. He said he would also hold a basketball tournament in the near future.
In the opening match played on this occasion, the experienced Pakistan Army outclassed Banaras United by seven goals.
Army soldiers dominated the entire match. Farman Ali, the striker of the winning team, scored a hat trick. Muhammad Afzal scored two while Akbar Khan and Mateen Ahmed scored one goal each.
