KARACHI: Pakistan’s IT sector has a promising future, brimming with talent, and potential to become the largest export industry of the country. It is carving a differentiated position as the preferred source for software development.

Sajid Manzoor is a veteran IT professional and IT industry expert from Karachi, Pakistan. He started his career at an early age as a Freelance Software and Web Developer. Sajid holds a Masters degree in Software Project Management along with a Professional Project Management PMP Certification. His areas of expertise are Software Development, Emerging IT Technologies such as AI, Data Science and Project management methodologies such as Agile and Scrum.

Speaking with TFD, Sajid said that “Any study of human development is quite incomplete without considering demographic transition; a phenomenon likely to have a profound impact on Pakistan’s future, given its young population. Currently more than 60% of our population is younger than 30 years out of which a major portion is aged between 15 and 25.Pakistan now has more young people than it has ever had, and this is forecasted to continue to increase until at least 2050. Now the question arises what are our initiatives to utilise our youth in the coming years?. We are now at the best time where we can create policies and new programs to train and equip our youth with the latest education and skills trends. Youth has incredible power to transform a Country’s future if trained rightly at the right time.”

He said that “when I say training I don’t mean those traditional short courses or diplomas. We need to improvise new programs and courses which are designed strategically to meet the needs of the global economy in the field of IT and Software Development. We should immediately set up our own international payment gateway, wallet or escrow system which guarantees buyers satisfaction and takes responsibility of quality services delivered to the buyers through this system.”

“We have a lot of free and un-utilised lands in barren areas, where we can set up IT Parks with free solar powered electricity for the tenants. We can not only generate rental income from Software Houses or IT companies, but we can also establish incubation and training centres for youth to work on their startup ideas.” IT affairs expert Sajid Manzoor tells the TFD.
