India’s Claims and Kashmir’s Reality

Prime Minister emphasized that India’s persistent claims of Jammu and Kashmir being an integral part of its territory are contradicted by international law, historical facts, and the ground reality. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to suppress the genuine leadership of the Kashmiri people and muzzle the media. With thousands of political prisoners and 14 political organizations banned, the situation remains dire.

Human Rights Violations

The Prime Minister condemned the routine harassment, arbitrary detentions, and “cordon and search operations” conducted by Indian forces under various draconian laws. He saluted the resilience and courage of the Kashmiri people, asserting that India’s coercive tactics have failed to diminish their desire for self-determination.

Call for Peace and Resolution

The Prime Minister stressed that lasting peace in South Asia hinges on resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He called on the international community to pressure India to halt human rights violations, reverse the unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, repeal draconian laws, and implement UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.

Deputy PM’s Statement on Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar criticized India’s actions from five years ago, labeling them as violations of UN resolutions and the UN Charter. He urged India to allow foreign observers into Occupied Kashmir to assess the situation and denounced the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A as attempts to alter the region’s demography.

Military Leadership’s Support

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), services chiefs, and the Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of IIOJ&K. They condemned the Indian security forces’ violations of international law, the military lockdown, demographic alterations, and human rights abuses. They stressed that lasting peace and stability in the region depend on resolving the Kashmir dispute per UN resolutions and Kashmiri aspirations.

President AJK’s Condemnation

President of Azad and Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, termed August 5 as the darkest day in Kashmir’s history. He condemned India’s move to strip the region of its special status as a blatant violation of UNSC resolutions. He asserted that the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A aimed to alter the political and constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir and that India’s state terrorism has intensified since August 5, 2019.
