BHIMBER/MIRPUR: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is striving for the rule of law in the country.
Addressing public rallies in Bhimber and Mirpur on Sunday as part of the party’s election campaign ahead of the polls, the prime minister said, “It is my dream to put the country on the right path and this is the only way through which we can develop it.”
Khan said the nation is strived to make Pakistan a great country as the world always respects a self-reliant nation. He said that past rulers mercilessly plundered the country’s wealth and took refuge abroad.
The prime minister said the people should think before casting their votes in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections whether they are voting for an honest or corrupt leader. He said that poverty cannot be eliminated from a society without curbing corruption.
Focusing on the Kashmir issue and how former prime minister Nawaz Sharif chose to “remain quiet” about it, the prime minister said “Nawaz Sharif did not speak on the Kashmir issue so as not to upset Modi.”
The PM said that in the past, it was rare for an outcry to be seen at the barbaric actions taken in Kashmir. “Modi was under the impression that now, too, Pakistan will not raise its voice for Kashmir,” he said.
The prime minister said that the Kashmiris have always held out hope and never given up.
He said that he had decided at a young age if God ever gives him the chance to advocate for Kashmir, he will fight for Kashmir all over the world, and spoke about how he had fought for Kashmir at every international forum.
“I told the world that the RSS government in India is racist,” the prime minister said, adding: “These people do not consider other citizens in India equal either.”
RSS is oppressing not only Muslims, but also Sikhs and Christians, he said. “I salute the brave people of Kashmir. Had it been anyone else, they would have capitulated before the might of 800,000 troops,” PM Imran Khan said. He said that India has done what it wanted to do, and “now it will fail”. “I say, they will fail. This is a war crime.”
Speaking on the local front, he said that “two big parties have been chewing away at Pakistan for 30 years”.
“They make money (illegally) and also let people below them in the hierarchy do the same,” he said. The prime minister urged the people to not think of friendship, tribes, or the community while voting and to “only see if the party leader is honest and trustworthy”.
“We have to bring the powerful under the grip of the law,” Khan said. “Before my government came, Nawaz Sharif’s sons ran away.
“I was retaliated against, taken to the Supreme Court, but I did not run away from the country. I gave every proof asked for,” the premier said.
The prime minister said that he did not run because he had not stolen from the country. “These people were looting the country’s wealth so they fled abroad.”
Seeing a large number of people without observing standard operating procedures (SOPs) against Covid-19 pandemic, Khan appealed to the people to continue wearing masks and observing SOPs to prevent spread of the virus.
He said, “The pandemic has yet not been over and we will have to continue observing SOPs to protect ourselves and others from the coronavirus.” – TLTP
