LAHORE: Shahzad Gul, Vice President of the National Interfaith Peace Committee Punjab, reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for the Palestinian people while addressing participants of a “Freedom for Palestine” rally held in Lahore.
Speaking to the gathering, Gul said the people of Pakistan would stand by the oppressed Palestinians and would continue to support their cause “until the last drop of blood.” He emphasized that Palestinians must not be left alone in their struggle and urged the Muslim world to show unity and solidarity with them.
Gul expressed concern over what he described as the disappointing attitude of certain Gulf countries toward the ongoing situation in the region. He said Islamic nations in the Gulf should have played a stronger and more constructive role in supporting Muslim causes rather than aligning themselves with external powers.
Referring to recent regional developments, Gul criticized the alleged use of air and land bases by foreign forces for military actions against Iran, calling it a deeply troubling development. He stated that, in his view, Iran was standing firmly in defense of Muslim interests in the region and that many people across the Muslim world viewed this stance with respect.
The National Interfaith Peace Committee leader said the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with both the Palestinian and Iranian people, expressing unity and support during what he described as a difficult time for the region.
Participants of the rally also raised slogans in support of Palestinian freedom and called for greater unity among Muslim nations. Speakers at the event urged the international community to take meaningful steps to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and to work toward a peaceful and just resolution of the conflict.
Gul further called upon the government of Pakistan to adopt stronger diplomatic and humanitarian measures to support Palestinians. He urged authorities to review certain international commitments and take practical steps aimed at providing relief to those affected by the ongoing crisis.
The rally concluded with participants reiterating their support for the Palestinian cause and calling for unity across the Muslim world to address the challenges facing the region.
