KARACHI: More than 1600 employees of Sindh Industrial Trade Estates (SITE) Ltd, a government organisation responsible for development of infrastructure and provide facilities in industrial estates throughout the province, are deprived of their salaries for than month of April 2023 despite announcement of Sindh government to release salaries to all its employees before Eid.
Due to the apathy of the SITE administration, employees were not paid their salaries before Eid resulting in non-celebration of Eid in their families. This caused mental agony to employees and their families especially children. Height of bad governance is that employees are still without salaries despite lapse of one week.
Employees requesting anonymity told this scribe that corrupt administration of the organisation didn’t even realized that how would they celebrate Eid without salary. “They are just interested in their kick backs. Finance department officials have paid millions of rupees to contractors for their greed of percentage by depriving employees of their salaries,” they told.
Sources further disclosed that there is no regular managing director of SITE while on media reports, Sindh government has assigned Nazar Hussain Jatoi, deputy chief/ director technical to hold additional charge of MD SITE.
There are at least three groups active in collecting kick backs amount and distribute a month their chains from top to bottom. An officer collect such money at his home and then distribute to its beneficiaries from other place, sources revealed.
Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo, Sindh minister industries and Mohammad Afzal, secretary SITE Ltd declined to share their versions on this situation when contacted.
