ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has declared that United States President Donald Trump would soon visit Pakistan and that his is visit to Washington had been uniquely successful.
Addressing the federal cabinet on Thursday, the premier said that Pakistan had been able to present itself on equal terms with Washington.
PM Imran said that the issue of Kashmir was highlighted to the fullest and Pak-US relations would be on its best in the near future.
Details of expenses incurred by former head of states Yousuf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Mamnoon Hussain on foreign tours were also presented in the meeting.
According to a document, former PM Gillani spent more than Rs570 million on his 48 foreign visits during his four-year tenure. During this period, 2,067 people travelled with him.
The former premier had paid Rs10.5m in tips and gave gifts of 12.2m, while the cost of his hotel stays amounted to Rs190m. Rs29.8m was spent on TA/DA and Rs190m on food.
Ex-prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf made nine foreign visits during his one year in the office and spent more than Rs100m. He gave away Rs4.7 in tips and Rs9.2m rupees on TA/DA.
Former president Mamnoon Hussain made 31 foreign visits in five years and spent Rs278 million.
According to sources, the premier said that taxpayers’ money will be recovered from the former rulers.
Meanwhile, the federal cabinet withdrew the administrative powers of five regulatory authorities from relevant ministries and assigned them to the cabinet division.
The cabinet also approved the removal of column of profession from the passport and ratified the appointment of finance ministry additional secretary for expenses as secretary of the loans investigation commission.
The cabinet also sanctioned the decisions made by Economic Coordination Committee in its July 17 meeting, while approving extension of another four months in the eighth wage board award for journalists.
The cabinet was given a detailed briefing on Pakistan Post and was told that the department had initiated new projects and its staff was being trained and modern facilities being provided to improve the quality of services.
Federal minister Murad Saeed said that the deficit of Pakistan Post will be met by the end of current year.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering of party leaders, workers and people at Islamabad International Airport after concluding successful visit to the United States, the Prime Minister vowed to bring the looters and plunderers of the national wealth to justice.
Imran Khan has said he did not bow to anyone and will not let his people bow down before anyone. “I will never disappoint the nation”, he said.
The prime minister reiterated his resolve to bring the looters and plunderers of the national wealth to justice. He said Pakistan came into being on 27th of Ramazan and it is the sole country which was established in the name of Islam.
Imran Khan said the day is not far when the world will respect the green passport and Pakistan will emerge as a great country of the world.
The premier expressed the resolve to rebuild the institutions damaged by the former rulers through their corrupt practices. He also expressed resolve to make Pakistani nation a great nation by laying the foundation of the country on golden principles of Riasat-e-Madina. He said hospitals will be constructed, provision of clean drinking water will be ensured and employment opportunities will be created in the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan was accorded warm welcome upon his arrival in Islamabad after concluding his successful visit to the United States of America.
Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan, Minister for Aviation Division Ghulam Sarwar Khan, PTI Leader Jahangir Tareen, Azam Khan Swati, Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain were present at the airport to welcome the Prime Minister.
