KARACHI: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has urged young civil servants to perform their responsibilities with integrity, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility while keeping the national interest paramount.
Addressing 217 probationary officers of the 54th Common Training Programme (CTP) during their visit to the Digital Communication Department of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the minister said effective government communication was essential for promoting transparency, providing accurate information to the public and strengthening trust in state institutions.
Tarar said the Common Training Programme was playing an important role in enhancing the professional capabilities of government officers and preparing them to effectively serve the country and its people.
Highlighting the growing challenges of the digital age, the minister said countering misinformation and misleading content had become increasingly important. He stressed the need for professional, timely and responsible communication strategies to ensure that citizens receive accurate and credible information.
He said the rapidly changing digital information environment had increased the responsibility of government institutions to communicate effectively with the public and respond to misleading narratives through facts and credible information.
Tarar advised the probationary officers to serve Pakistan with humility, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility. He urged them to maintain the highest standards of integrity and professional competence throughout their careers in public service.
The 217-member delegation comprised 117 male and 100 female probationary officers representing 12 occupational groups and services of the federal government.
During the visit, the officers were given a detailed briefing on the role and functions of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, government communication mechanisms, formulation and projection of the national narrative, digital communication and public awareness initiatives.
They were also briefed on efforts to counter misinformation and on the use of digital platforms to expand public outreach and disseminate information regarding national policies and government initiatives.
Officials highlighted the growing importance of digital communication in bridging the information gap between the government and citizens and ensuring timely access to authentic information.
The probationary officers appreciated the briefing and showed keen interest in the evolving role of government communication and digital media in strengthening public outreach and building greater public confidence in state institutions.
