NAWABSHAH: Three people were killed on the spot after a speeding car ploughed into individuals standing along the roadside near Sakrand in Nawabshah on Thursday, police said.
According to Nawabshah police, the fatal accident occurred near Sakrand when the speeding vehicle struck the roadside victims.
All three victims died at the scene. Their bodies were subsequently shifted to a hospital for necessary medico-legal and other formalities.
Police said an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances that led to the accident. Further details about the vehicle, its driver and the identities of the deceased were not immediately available.
Teenager Killed in Karachi Road Accident
The incident comes a month after a 17-year-old boy was killed and another teenager injured when a speeding dumper ran them over near Korangi No. 3 in Karachi.
According to initial reports, one teenager died at the scene while the other sustained injuries.
Following the accident, a large number of residents gathered on the road and began stopping dumpers passing through the area.
Tensions escalated when some members of the crowd attempted to set the dumper on fire. Police intervened and prevented the situation from deteriorating further.
Korangi police later removed the dumper driver from the crowd and took him to the police station for questioning.
Police officials said some people in the crowd had attempted to attack the driver and set him and the vehicle on fire.
