Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to curb irregular migration, migrant smuggling and human trafficking. He said greater legal migration opportunities for Pakistani skilled workers and professionals should complement those efforts.
Brunner acknowledged Pakistan’s progress in curbing irregular migration and noted opportunities to expand legal migration pathways.
Dar also expressed satisfaction with recent engagement between Pakistan and the European Union. Migration and mobility formed a key pillar of the Pakistan–EU Strategic Engagement Plan (2019), the release said.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening the partnership and hoped Brunner’s visit would produce practical outcomes for both sides.
