Governor House hosts elegant and historic 17th Convocation of Greenwich University

KARACHI: An amazing, well-organised and state-of-the-art convocation of Greenwich University was held in the impressive and elegant ambiance of the Governor House Karachi, where the university celebrated its 17th Convocation with grandeur and academic distinction, reflecting a perfect blend of tradition, excellence, and modern ceremonial standards.
A total of 362 undergraduates, 82 graduates, and 57 postgraduates were conferred degrees across a wide range of disciplines, reflecting the university’s strong academic depth and diversity. In recognition of exceptional academic achievement, 35 students were awarded Gold Medals, celebrating excellence, dedication, and perseverance.
The convocation was themed “Fasal-e-Gul”, symbolising renewal, growth, and optimism, and aimed at rejuvenating a positive and confident image of Pakistan among the youth. The theme resonated throughout the ceremony, underscoring hope, progress, and the promise of a brighter future led by educated and empowered young citizens.
Prestigious Honorary Degrees (Honoris Causa) were conferred upon eminent personalities for their outstanding contributions to industry, media, and public service: Abdul Haseeb Khan, Sarmad Ali, Jerjees Seja, and Zafar Masud. Their recognition highlighted the university’s commitment to honouring leadership, innovation, and national service.
Addressing the ceremony as Chief Guest, Kamran Tessori congratulated the graduating class and emphasized that the nation looks to its youth for future progress and prosperity. He praised Greenwich University for maintaining high academic standards, nurturing leadership qualities, and equipping students with the skills and mindset required to navigate the realities of the modern world.
In her address, the Chancellor of Greenwich University, Dr. Seema Mughal, reflected on the institution’s four-decade legacy of commitment to education. She noted that the university has continuously evolved and adapted to meet changing times while remaining steadfast in its mission to serve generations of students. She further highlighted Greenwich University’s extensive work in sustainable development across social, economic, and environmental domains at national, regional, and global levels.
Dr. Seema Mughal also paid heartfelt tribute to parents, acknowledging that behind every graduate stand years of patience, sacrifice, prayers, and unconditional support. She reminded graduates that their achievements are a shared success and encouraged them to carry forward the values of integrity, responsibility, and service.
The convocation concluded on a celebratory note, leaving graduates, families, and guests inspired by the grandeur of the setting, the precision of the arrangements, and the collective optimism for Pakistan’s future driven by its educated youth.
