John Cena has revealed that his lack of commitment to acting during the early stages of his career nearly brought his Hollywood journey to an end.
The former WWE star, who made his big-screen debut in The Marine in 2006, admitted that wrestling remained his main priority when he first entered the film industry.
Speaking while discussing his new film, Matchbox: The Movie, Cena reflected on his nearly two-decade journey in Hollywood and acknowledged that he was not fully committed to his early acting opportunities.
The 49-year-old actor said he felt more comfortable travelling around the world and performing in wrestling arenas before thousands of fans.
Cena recalled struggling to adjust to filmmaking because the environment and pace on movie sets were very different from professional wrestling. At the time, he found it difficult to understand why filming took so long.
Looking back, Cena acknowledged that his attitude needed to change and said losing opportunities in the film business because he did not take the work seriously was understandable.
Over time, however, his approach changed significantly. Cena said he is now passionate about acting and has developed a greater appreciation for the filmmaking process and the efforts of everyone involved in a production.
The actor described getting another opportunity to grow and establish himself in Hollywood after more than 20 years as a stroke of good fortune.
