Muslim nations condemn Israeli ceasefire violations in Gaza

KARACHI: The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza, warning that the continued attacks risk escalating tensions and derailing fragile diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring calm in the besieged territory.
In a joint statement shared by the Foreign Office spokesperson, the ministers said the violations had resulted in the killing and injury of more than a thousand Palestinians, despite an agreed truce intended to halt hostilities and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
“These actions risk escalating tensions and undermining efforts aimed at consolidating calm and restoring stability, at a time when regional and international parties are working collectively to advance the second phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan and to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803,” the statement said.
The foreign ministers stressed that repeated breaches of the ceasefire posed a direct threat to the ongoing political process and seriously hampered efforts to create conditions necessary for a transition to a more stable phase in Gaza, particularly in terms of security and humanitarian relief.
They underlined the importance of full commitment by all parties to ensure the success of the second phase of the peace initiative, emphasizing that restraint and responsibility were critical during this sensitive period.
The joint statement also called on all sides to fully uphold their obligations, refrain from actions that could undermine the ceasefire, and help preserve the fragile calm on the ground. The ministers said sustaining the truce was essential to enable early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, where years of conflict and blockade have left basic infrastructure severely damaged.
Reaffirming long-standing positions, the ministers stressed that any lasting peace must be grounded in the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, in accordance with international law, relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
They urged the international community to play its role in ensuring respect for the ceasefire and preventing further deterioration of the situation, warning that continued violations could push the region back into a cycle of violence with grave humanitarian consequences.
