KARACHI: Former Pakistan cricket captain Javed Miandad, former Senator Chaudhry Sher Ali, prominent corporate leaders, and members of Karachi’s civil society have jointly called upon the Government of Pakistan to confer a national civil award on renowned Ayurvedic physician Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka in recognition of his exceptional humanitarian and medical services spanning more than four decades.
In a joint statement, the signatories said that Dr. Nasaka has dedicated the past 43 years of his life to serving humanity through Ayurvedic medicine, providing treatment and hope to hundreds of thousands of patients suffering from cancer as well as numerous other chronic and life-threatening diseases. They said countless patients have either fully recovered or experienced remarkable improvements in their health under his care, earning him widespread respect and admiration across Pakistan.
The statement noted that Dr. Nasaka continues to provide medical care through his clinics located in different parts of Karachi. To ensure that patients from across the city have access to treatment, he has designated specific days of the week for consultations at each clinic, where hundreds of patients benefit from his services on a regular basis.
The signatories further highlighted that one of the most inspiring aspects of Dr. Nasaka’s life is that he will complete 100 years of age in September 2026. Despite approaching his centenary, they said, he remains physically fit, energetic, and active, possessing the vitality of a man in his forties. His remarkable health and unwavering dedication continue to inspire both patients and fellow healthcare professionals.
They added that Dr. Nasaka not only attends patients at his Karachi clinics but also travels extensively throughout the interior of Sindh on a regular basis to examine and treat thousands of patients living in remote towns and rural communities. Despite his advanced age, he continues to undertake long journeys to ensure that people who cannot easily travel to Karachi receive medical attention, reflecting his lifelong commitment to serving humanity without discrimination.
According to the statement, Dr. Nasaka has devoted his entire life to alleviating human suffering and promoting healthcare through selfless service. His decades-long commitment to treating the sick, particularly patients battling cancer and other serious illnesses, has made him one of Pakistan’s most respected practitioners of traditional medicine.
The signatories stated that individuals like Dr. Nasaka are among the nation’s greatest assets and deserve to be recognized for their extraordinary contributions to society. They emphasized that honouring him with a national civil award would not only acknowledge his remarkable legacy but would also inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to public service, compassion, and humanitarian work.
They appealed to the President and the Government of Pakistan to announce a prestigious civil award for Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka during the forthcoming national honours, describing it as a fitting tribute to a man who has devoted 43 years to the service of humanity and who continues, even in his 100th year of life, to serve thousands of patients with the same passion, dedication, and tireless commitment that have defined his extraordinary career.
