Nation Observes 1366th Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (AS) with Solemnity and Devotion

KARACHI: Pakistan and Muslim communities across the world observed 1366th Youm-e-Shahadat of Ameerul Momineen Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) on 21st Ramzan with deep reverence, solemn processions and religious gatherings, paying tribute to one of the most revered personalities in Islamic history. Across the country, mourning processions and majalis were held in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar, where thousands of devotees gathered in mosques and imambargahs to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (AS), the first Imam and fourth Caliph of Islam and the cousin and son-in-law of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Religious scholars highlighted the life and teachings of Hazrat Ali (AS), emphasizing his unparalleled courage, profound wisdom, humility and unwavering commitment to justice and equality. Speakers said that his life remains a timeless example of leadership based on truth, compassion and fairness. In Karachi, the main mourning procession was taken out from Nishtar Park, passing through its traditional route and concluding at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian in Kharadar amid strict security arrangements. Participants recited elegies and offered prayers
to remember the sacrifices of Hazrat Ali (AS). Similar processions and gatherings were held in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Multan, Quetta and Peshawar, where mourners expressed their devotion and reflected on the enduring message of justice and moral integrity associated with Hazrat Ali (AS). Authorities across Pakistan implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure peaceful observance of the day. Mobile phone services were suspended in certain sensitive areas while thousands of police and security personnel were deployed along procession routes. Walk-through gates, surveillance cameras and strict monitoring were put in place to maintain law and order. Youm-e-Shahadat marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (AS) in 661 CE, when he was fatally attacked while offering Fajr prayers in the mosque of Kufa. His passing remains one of the most tragic moments in Islamic history, yet his legacy of justice, knowledge and devotion continues to inspire Muslims around the world. Across the Muslim world, particularly in Iraq, thousands of pilgrims gathered at the shrine of Hazrat Ali (AS) in Najaf to pay homage and seek spiritual inspiration. Similar commemorations were held in Iran, Lebanon and other countries, reflecting the global reverence for the legacy of Hazrat Ali (AS). Scholars and community leaders said the message of Hazrat Ali (AS) remains profoundly relevant today, emphasizing justice, accountability, protection of the weak and ethical governance. His famous words that “a society can survive with disbelief but cannot survive with injustice” continue to resonate as a guiding principle for societies striving for fairness and moral integrity. The observance of Youm-e-Shahadat-e-Hazrat Ali (AS) serves as a reminder of the universal values of justice, compassion and unity that defined his life. Devotees across Pakistan prayed for peace, harmony and stability in the country and the wider Muslim world.
