KARACHI: Pakistan showed their potential in the warm up match against West Indies beating them by 7 wickets at the ICC Academy ground in Dubai, says a message received here Monday.
Twice winners of T20 Cricket World Cup West Indies batting first made 130 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Shiman Hetmayer scored 28 and Pollard scored 23. Shaheen Shah Afridi Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali took 2 wickets each.
Pakistsn chased the target of 131 comfortably with Babar Azam scoring 50 runs of 41 deliveries while Fakhr Zaman made 46 of 24 balls. He remained unbeaten.
In the first-round matches, Ireland beat Netherland by 7 wickets while Sri Lanka beat Namibia also by 7 wickets.
The highlight of Monday’s match between Ireland and Netherland was excellent bowling performance of Ireland’s Curtis Campbler who took 4 wickets in 4 balls, earlier the feat was achieved by Malinga and Rashid Khan.
