PM determined to make country more stable and strong: Firdous

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has stated that the government has taken several measures for the uplift and well-being of the people.
In an interview, she said Prime Minister Imran Khan is determined to make the state more stable and strong.
She stated that the government has been facing financial woes since day one of assuming power. The country is going through a tough phase, she held.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information said PML-N leader Maryam Safdar had nothing to do with the problems being faced by the poor people as she is doing politics of personal interests.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the governments of both Asif Ali Zardari and the Sharifs had taken loans amounting to Rs 24,000 billion, but instead of boosting the national economy, they had only made fortunes for their families.
She said that the government when came to power inherited a debt of Rs31,000 billion.
On the budget, she said that the elite class of the country will have to show support to the country as the rich in the region pay more taxes than the elite in Pakistan do.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the targets will have to disgruntle some people.
She said that this time the budget for development has been increased from previous year’s Rs500 billion to Rs925 billion.
She said that the budget of the armed forces has not been increased this year and stands at Rs1150 billion.
Meanwhile, Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the reference against judges is a constitutional matter and it should not be given any political colour by PML (N) leader Maryam Safdar.
In a tweet on Thursday, she said the best way of expressing solidarity with judiciary is to respect its verdicts. – NNI
