Police on Sunday arrested four armed dacoits in a successful operation near Khayaban-e-Ittehad, DHA Phase 7, Karachi, and recovered a large number of stolen mobile phones and weapons from their possession.
According to police officials, the suspects were intercepted near KFC on Khayaban-e-Ittehad after law enforcement personnel received a tip-off regarding suspicious activity in the area. Upon search, police recovered dozens of mobile phones believed to have been snatched from citizens in various parts of the city.
The suspects, all of whom were carrying firearms, tried to flee but were overpowered by the police after a brief chase. The recovered weapons, including pistols and ammunition, have been sent for forensic examination.
Police said the arrested men are believed to be part of a larger gang involved in street crimes across Defence and Clifton areas. The suspects have been shifted to the police station for interrogation, and further raids are being conducted to trace their accomplices.
A case has been registered, and police officials assured that the operation against street criminals will continue with full force to ensure citizens’ safety in Karachi’s upscale localities.
