Shehbaz, Nawaz Hold Key Meeting on Political and Economic Situation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra on Sunday to deliberate on the prevailing political and economic situation of the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were also present during the meeting. The leaders reviewed the national economic outlook, party affairs, and strategies to strengthen governance and ensure public relief.

According to party insiders, Nawaz Sharif emphasized the need to further consolidate Pakistan’s economic progress, noting that the country was steadily moving toward development. He lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts, saying that his “tireless work is being recognized globally.”

The former premier also commended Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for her leadership, particularly in maintaining law and order and driving the province’s development agenda. “Under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, Punjab is on the path of remarkable progress,” he said.

Party sources said both leaders consulted on key political and policy matters, reaffirming their commitment to work jointly for national stability and the welfare of the people. The meeting also touched upon the emerging political rift between the PML-N and PPP, the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and preparations for the upcoming local government elections in Punjab.

The discussion extended to Pakistan’s security situation, particularly the recent tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The leaders praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their effective and comprehensive response to cross-border provocations. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that “the entire nation stands united behind the armed forces in defending the country.”

Later, the prime minister visited the residence of PML-N leader Mian Marghoob Ahmed to offer condolences over the death of his wife.
