KARACHI: Health Department Sindh has initiated strict monitoring measures to improve the province’s healthcare system, following directives from the Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench.
A high-level meeting was chaired by Rehan Iqbal Baloch, Secretary Health Sindh, on October 18, 2025, to review key administrative issues in light of the court’s order in Constitution Petition No. D-965/2025.
After extensive discussions, the Secretary Health issued a series of directives for Medical Superintendents of tertiary and secondary care hospitals, District Health Officers, and District and Taluka Headquarters Hospitals across the province for immediate and strict implementation within set timelines.
The decisions include strict monitoring of doctors’ attendance and private practice in line with court orders, immediate activation of biometric attendance systems in all hospitals, prevention of unauthorized private practice, and initiation of a verification process to identify ghost and absent employees.
He also directed hospitals to ensure 24-hour treatment facilities for cardiac patients at all DHQ and THQ hospitals, prevent theft, misuse and sale of government medicines, and ensure the availability of essential medicines and equipment.
Additionally, a detailed report on hospital vacancies and staff attendance has been sought, with the deadline for submission set for October 23, 2025. To ensure smooth coordination, Deputy Secretary (Admin-I) Tariq Khan has been assigned overall supervisory responsibility for the implementation of these directives.
