KARACHI: Suzuki Motor Corporation recorded robust growth in production and sales in December 2025 and for the full calendar year, largely propelled by strong overseas performance, particularly in India, according to the company’s latest automobile production, sales, and export figures.

In December 2025, Suzuki’s global production stood at 308,280 units, marking a 21.8 percent year-on-year increase and remaining up for the fourth consecutive month. This represented a record high for December, primarily driven by record overseas production. Japan production, however, declined 3.4 percent year-on-year to 78,620 units, marking the third consecutive monthly decline, mainly due to reduced output for the domestic market despite higher production for overseas destinations.
In contrast, overseas production surged 33.8 percent year-on-year to 229,660 units, also up for the fourth straight month. India remained the main growth engine, producing 211,770 units, up 34.4 percent, while production in other overseas markets rose 26.4 percent to 17,890 units. India posted a record high single-month production figure, underlining its central role in Suzuki’s global manufacturing strategy.
On the sales front, Suzuki’s global sales in December reached 297,769 units, up 21.8 percent year-on-year and rising for the third consecutive month, also marking a record high for December. Japan sales slipped 3.8 percent to 50,548 units, reflecting weaker demand for minivehicles. Sales of minivehicles declined 11 percent to 38,409 units, down for the third consecutive month. However, standard and small vehicles bucked the trend, jumping 29.1 percent to 12,139 units, marking their ninth consecutive month of growth and a record high for December.
Overseas sales remained the key growth driver, climbing 28.8 percent year-on-year to 247,221 units, up for the third straight month. India again led the surge with 182,165 units sold, an increase of 37.5 percent, while sales in other overseas markets rose 9.5 percent to 65,056 units, posting growth for the first time in three months.
In contrast to strong production and sales, exports in December 2025 declined. Total exports, including CBU and CKD units, fell 6.4 percent year-on-year to 19,432 units, marking the second consecutive monthly decline, largely due to reduced CBU exports.
For the full year January-December 2025, Suzuki’s global production reached 3,423,403 units, up 3.8 percent year-on-year and rising for the fifth consecutive year. Japan production declined 7.2 percent to 956,204 units, marking the first annual decline in four years, reflecting lower output for both domestic sales and exports. Meanwhile, overseas production climbed 8.7 percent to 2,467,199 units, up for the second consecutive year and marking a record high, supported by strong growth in India and Indonesia. India alone produced 2,254,449 units, up 9.3 percent, achieving a record high yearly production.
Global sales for 2025 totaled 3,295,013 units, an increase of 1.4 percent, extending growth to the fifth consecutive year. Japan sales edged up 1.0 percent to 728,952 units, supported by strong demand for standard and small vehicles, which rose 21.6 percent to 160,405 units, marking a record high for the year, despite a 3.6 percent decline in minivehicle sales.
Overseas sales for the year reached 2,566,061 units, up 1.5 percent, also rising for the fifth straight year. Growth was driven by higher sales in India, Pakistan, and Africa, with India and Africa posting record high yearly sales, while sales in other regions dipped slightly.
For the full year, exports totaled 195,618 units, down 17.7 percent year-on-year, although the company maintained its fifth consecutive year of export activity, reflecting continued adjustments in global supply and market demand.
Overall, Suzuki’s December and full-year 2025 performance underscores the company’s growing reliance on overseas markets-particularly India-to offset softer domestic trends in Japan, while reinforcing its position as a major player in emerging automotive markets.
