KARACHI: The vice chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Lyari, has tendered his resignation, citing sustained pressure from a group of university employees over administrative matters.
According to the report, the vice chancellor submitted his resignation letter directly to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
In his resignation, the outgoing VC said a faction of university employees had been continuously pressuring the administration and staging protests over demands that, according to him, were politically motivated rather than based on institutional concerns.
He said the protesting employees had been pressing the university administration to remove the registrar from office.
The vice chancellor maintained that administrative decisions at the university must be taken strictly in accordance with relevant laws, rules and regulations rather than under pressure from employees or other groups.
He indicated that the continuing protests and pressure had made it difficult for him to perform his administrative responsibilities in accordance with established procedures.
The resignation has now been submitted to the chief minister for further action.
