Call to follow teachings of Imam Ali Raza (A.S.) to end terrorism, sectarianism
A function to mark the 1296th birth anniversary of Hazrat Imam Ali Raza (A.S.) was organized by the prominent scholar Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, Chairman Imam Hussain Council at Punjab Arts Council, Rawalpindi, during the week. A cake was cut to celebrate the event.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi said that Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh’s murshid known as Karkhi was the personal servant of Hazrat Imam Raza (A.S.).
Aliha Johari said that the Abbasids presented proofs of the truth of Islam with their miracles in the court.
Allama Shakeel Akhtar said that Hazrat Imam Raza (A.S.) spent his whole life promoting the teachings of his grandfather, for which he was poisoned as a punishment. A bowl with some poisonous drink was served to him leading to his martyrdom.
Circle President of Central Imam Hussain Council, Ehsan Kabaria said that the intellectual community around the world considers Hazrat Imam Raza (A.S.) as their great leader.
Allama Salim Haider recited Fatwha for the martyrs of Pakistan by making special prayers for the stability of the country and for an end to terrorism and sectarianism.
Marriyum, German envoy agree on bilateral coop in fields of film, art & culture
Pakistan and Germany have agreed on bilateral cooperation in the fields of film, art and culture.
The agreement was reached in a meeting of German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, during the week.
During the meeting, a discussion was also held on a proposal for cooperation with the University of Babelsberg and the University of Television and Film Munich.
Marriyum Aurangzeb apprised the German Ambassador about the Film and Culture Policy of the Government of Pakistan and the incentives given under the policy.
She said that the government was desirous of showing the beauty, culture and civilization of Pakistan to the whole world through screen tourism. Foreign filmmakers should benefit from special concessions given for filmmaking in Pakistan, she said.
The minister sought support from German institutions for technical training in film, art, and culture for Pakistani students.
“Film, art and culture can be promoted by cooperation between German and Pakistani private educational institutions,” she said. The minister appreciated the services of German NGOs GIZ and Hans Seidel Foundation in Pakistan.
She also expressed her gratitude for the German assistance of 18.4 million Euros to the flood victims in Pakistan.
Germany’s promise to provide 84 million euros in aid to the International Conference on Climate Change was another proof of Germany’s friendship with Pakistan, the minister maintained.
The volume of bilateral trade is 4 billion dollars which needs to be increased, said the minister.
She opined and Allama Iqbal and Goethe were common assets between the two countries and with the establishment of Iqbal-Goethe Art and Culture Center in Berlin, the people of the two countries will come closer to each other.
She appreciated the German media for reporting the situation in Pakistan in an objective and impartial manner which was commendable.
A delegation of the German Journalists Association was expected to visit Pakistan next month, the minister told the German Ambassador.
Kyrgyz Ambassador meets ISE Chairman, others
Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ulanbek Totuiaev met with Zahid Latif Khan, Chairman ISE Towers REIT Management Company Limited and Chairman Asian Institute of Eco-Civilization, Research and Development, Farrukh H. Khan, Chief Executive Pakistan Stock Exchange, Badiuddin Akber, Chief Executive Central Depository Company of Pakistan and Muhammad Lukman, Chief Executive National Clearing Company of Pakistan in ISE Towers, Islamabad. The representatives of Kyrgyz Stock Exchange and Kyrgyz Central Depository Company also joined the meeting virtually. The meeting was organized by Zahid Latif Khan.
Ambassador Ulanbek Totuiaev informed about the commitment of Government of Kyrgyzstan for developing the capital market of Kyrgyzstan through information sharing and introduction of automated systems. He expressed his interest in developing comprehensive cooperation and assistance with the Pakistani side for promoting the capital market in his country. He also invited the Pakistani side to visit Kyrgyzstan for the purpose.
Zahid Latif Khan suggested the conclusion of Memorandum of Understanding between the Pakistan Stock Exchange and Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited with their respective counterparts in Kyrgyzstan.
Farrukh H. Khan and Badiuddin Akber presented a briefing on the statutory and operational areas of PSX and CDC. They also discussed the areas of mutual interest including dual listing. The participants agreed to enter into a MoU and also to organize bilateral visits.
At the end, Zahid Latif Khan paid its gratitude to Ambassador Ulanbek Totuiaev. The participants also thanked Zahid Latif Khan for organizing the meeting.
