Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb outlined financing diversification through Sukuk, Panda bonds and a proposed rupee-denominated, dollar-settled international bond, the Press Information Department said.
He briefed investors at Standard Chartered Bank’s Sovereign Investor Roundtable in Bangkok on October 14, 2026. The event took place alongside the World Bank Group–IMF Annual Meetings 2026.
Aurangzeb highlighted three consecutive years of primary surpluses and a fiscal deficit at a 22-year low. He also cited sovereign rating upgrades.
His financing strategy emphasised lower borrowing costs, longer debt maturities and reduced rollover risks. He stressed fiscal discipline, stronger tax enforcement and sustained structural reforms.
The minister called for investment- and export-led growth beyond the IMF programme. Discussions also covered reserves, inflation, the external outlook, energy security, targeted relief and climate financing.
Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing reforms and strengthening Pakistan’s sovereign credit standing.
