KARACHI: The All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote professional training, technical education and internship opportunities for educated unemployed youth in the field of customs clearing and forwarding.
The MoU was signed on May 20, 2026 at the NAVTTC Regional Office in Karachi. The agreement marks an important step towards developing skilled human resources and creating employment opportunities in Pakistan’s logistics, trade facilitation and customs clearing sectors.
Under the collaboration, both organizations will work together to equip young people with practical knowledge, professional skills and industry-based training required for careers in customs clearance, freight forwarding, international trade documentation, port operations and related fields.
NAVTTC will facilitate structured vocational and technical training programs, while APCAA will provide industry linkages, practical exposure, internship opportunities and professional guidance through its nationwide network of customs agents and allied stakeholders.
The initiative is particularly aimed at educated unemployed youth, enabling them to acquire market-driven skills and hands-on experience to improve their employability. The program is also expected to support economic activity, youth empowerment and capacity building within Pakistan’s trade and logistics industry.
Speaking on the occasion, APCAA representatives Rana NasarUllah Khan, Ashad Jamal and Danish Riaz said the customs clearing and forwarding sector offers significant potential for skilled employment and entrepreneurship. They said demand is increasing for trained professionals who understand customs procedures,
digital clearance systems, international trade regulations and port operations.
The NAVTTC leadership appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting industry-led vocational education. It said demand-driven skill development programs are essential for creating practical employment pathways for the youth.
APCAA Chairman Arshad Khurshid said the collaboration would open new opportunities for the younger generation and help bridge the gap between formal education and practical industry requirements. He added that APCAA remains committed to contributing to national development, trade facilitation and professional capacity building of youth.
The MoU signing ceremony concluded with a mutual commitment from both organizations to work jointly for the promotion of technical education, skill enhancement and employment generation in Pakistan.
