KARACHI: As Pakistan prepares to announce the Federal Budget 2026-27 on June 10, Wali Shah, Founder and CEO of Projector Union, has urged policymakers to introduce targeted measures to support the country’s audio-visual, presentation technology, educational equipment, and event solutions sector.
Wali Shah says the audio-visual industry plays an important role in education, corporate communication, training, conferences, digital learning, and public-sector modernization, yet it often receives limited attention in policy discussions despite its contribution to business productivity and technological advancement.
Wali Shah says Pakistan’s growing emphasis on digital transformation, smart classrooms, hybrid workplaces, and technology-driven learning environments has created significant opportunities for the sector. However, he says businesses continue to face challenges related to import duties, currency fluctuations, financing constraints, and technology adoption costs.
Introducing himself and the company, Wali Shah says Projector Union has been serving Pakistan’s audio-visual and multimedia technology market since 2004, providing projector solutions, digital display systems, audio-visual equipment, installation services, repairs, rentals, and event management support to educational institutions, corporate organizations, government entities, and businesses across the country. The company specializes in multimedia projection solutions and audio-visual technologies for commercial, educational, and professional applications.
Presenting his recommendations for the Federal Budget 2026-27, Wali Shah says the government should focus on the following priorities:
1. Rationalize Import Duties on Technology Equipment
Wali Shah says duties and taxes on projectors, interactive displays, educational technology equipment, digital signage, and professional audio-visual systems should be reviewed and rationalized to make modern technologies more accessible.
2. Support Digital Education Infrastructure
Wali Shah says special incentives should be introduced for schools, colleges, universities, and vocational institutions investing in smart classrooms, multimedia learning systems, and digital teaching technologies.
3. Facilitate Affordable Financing
Wali Shah says banks and financial institutions should be encouraged to offer low-cost financing schemes for businesses and educational institutions seeking to upgrade their technology infrastructure.
4. Promote Local Technology Integration
Wali Shah says the government should encourage the use of locally supplied and professionally supported technology solutions in public-sector projects, educational initiatives, and digital transformation programs.
5. Encourage Digital Transformation Projects
Wali Shah says greater budget allocations should be directed toward e-learning, digital communication systems, conference technologies, and modern presentation infrastructure across government departments.
6. Simplify Import and Regulatory Procedures
Wali Shah says reducing procedural delays and streamlining customs clearance processes would improve business efficiency and ensure timely access to advanced technologies.
7. Support SMEs in the Technology Supply Chain
Wali Shah says small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the technology and audio-visual sector should receive incentives, financing support, and capacity-building opportunities to strengthen their competitiveness.
8. Invest in Technical Skills Development
Wali Shah says workforce training programs focused on audio-visual technologies, digital systems integration, equipment maintenance, and emerging presentation technologies would help create skilled employment opportunities.

He says the upcoming budget should recognize the strategic importance of the audio-visual and educational technology sector in supporting digital transformation, improving learning outcomes, and enhancing business productivity.
