KARACHI: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) witnessed a significant gathering as President Faraz-ur-Rehman and Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Business Group, Farhan-ur-Rehman, hosted a dinner in honor of KATI Acting Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya. The event was graced by esteemed guests including Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Dr. Farooq Sattar, Minister of State Ashfaq Tola, and Haji Rafiq Pardesi, says a Press release.
Addressing the attendees, Faraz-ur-Rehman emphasized the need for joint efforts to bolster the economy and reaffirmed his commitment to following the vision of SM Muneer, whose training has guided his path. He highlighted the resilience of the Pakistani business community during the pandemic but expressed concern over the government’s performance and rising inflation that have created financial challenges for industrialists and traders.
KATI Acting Patron-in-Chief, Zubair Chhaya, praised the leadership of Faraz-ur-Rehman, who served as KATI’s president, and acknowledged the invaluable training from S.M Muneer that has made KATI one of the strongest associations in Pakistan. He raised the issue of disparity between tax filers and non-filers, advocating for a more balanced tax system to encourage compliance.
Dr. Farooq Sattar commended Faraz-ur-Rehman for his efforts in unifying the business community under the Pakistan Business Group Organization (PBGO), a platform that has fostered cooperation and facilitated solutions to various challenges faced by businesses.
Minister of State Ashfaq Tola expressed support for the formation of an All Pakistan Taxpayer Association and emphasized the importance of tax compliance for the country’s economic well-being.
Haji Rafiq Pardesi highlighted the significance of service to humanity and urged maintaining a sense of devotion even in positions of authority.
Rashid Ahmad Siddiqui paid tribute to Faraz-ur-Rehman and Farhan-ur-Rehman for their dedicated services to KATI, considering their contributions worthy of being inscribed in golden letters.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Fawad-ur-Rehman, head of the sports committee of Pakistan Business Group, acknowledging the participation of all attendees.
