JI Demands Retest for Top 100 MDCAT 2026 Candidates

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Monem Zafar Khan on Friday demanded that the top 100 candidates in MDCAT 2026 be retested by an independent body amid allegations of irregularities and mismanagement in the examination.
In a letter to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) President Dr Rizwan Taj, Monem Zafar raised concerns over the transparency and fairness of the test and called for an independent review of complaints lodged by students.
He criticised the examination arrangements in Karachi, saying around 9,500 candidates were accommodated at only two centres on University Road. He compared this with 19 centres in Peshawar and six in Lahore.
According to the JI leader, many candidates in Karachi had to travel long distances, causing inconvenience to students and their families.
Monem Zafar also questioned the decision to assign responsibility for conducting the examination to IBA Sukkur and said instructions regarding the collection of examination papers had raised further transparency concerns.
He said objections had been raised over answer keys for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, including specific complaints concerning paper codes A and D.
The JI Karachi chief demanded an independent investigation into concerns over possible alterations to the results and urged the PMDC to address students’ grievances to restore confidence in the examination process.
He also sought a transparent account of funds collected for the examination, claiming that more than Rs1.26 billion had been received in connection with MDCAT.
Monem Zafar criticised the conditions faced by candidates, saying students were asked to arrive in the morning but had to wait for several hours in the heat. He said keeping candidates at examination centres for up to eight hours was inappropriate and distressing.
Earlier, Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal directed the PMDC to investigate complaints regarding the transparency and fairness of MDCAT 2026 in Sindh.
The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination had also written to PMDC President Dr Rizwan Taj following media reports and complaints regarding the examination.
