CM Murad hails ‘Iron-Clad’ Pak-China friendship during visit to Chinese Consulate

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi on Saturday, reaffirming Pakistan’s enduring friendship with China and describing the relationship as an all-weather strategic partnership founded on mutual trust, sovereign equality and steadfast support for each other’s core interests.
During the visit, the Chief Minister extended his felicitations on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Acting Chinese Consul General Feng Deheng received the Chief Minister on his arrival at the Consulate.
Extending congratulations on behalf of the Sindh government and the people of the province, Murad Ali Shah felicitated the Chinese leadership, government and people on the National Day and praised China’s remarkable transformation into a major global economic and technological power.
He said Pakistan-China friendship had withstood the test of time and developed into an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, reflecting decades of mutual confidence, understanding and cooperation.
The Chief Minister highlighted China’s achievements in economic development, infrastructure, technological innovation and poverty reduction, describing the country’s transformation as one of the outstanding development success stories of modern times.
Murad Ali Shah also underscored the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), saying it had played a significant role in improving connectivity, strengthening economic cooperation and supporting Pakistan’s development.
He called for further expanding cooperation between Sindh and China, particularly in renewable energy, agriculture, technology, urban development and other sectors offering significant potential for investment and economic collaboration.
The occasion carries added significance as Pakistan and China are also commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, marking another milestone in a relationship formally established in 1951.
The Chief Minister said Sindh remained committed to strengthening economic and people-to-people ties with China and encouraging greater Chinese participation in the province’s development.
Acting Consul General Feng Deheng highlighted China’s continued pursuit of high-quality development and greater opening-up, while appreciating the contributions of various sections of Pakistani society towards strengthening China-Pakistan friendship and cooperation.
The visit reflected the continuing close engagement between the Sindh government and Chinese diplomatic representatives in Karachi as both sides seek to translate their longstanding political friendship into stronger economic, investment and development cooperation.
